Stitching Together Sweetness with Adorably-Shaped Sugar Cookies!

Ready to sew some sweetness into your day? These sugar cookie buttons are as cute as they are easy to make!

How to make sugar cookie buttons:

Start by rolling out pre-made or homemade sugar cookie dough. Using the wider opening of a shot glass, cut out circles for each cookie. Bake as instructed or until the edges turn golden. Once finished baking, press the smaller bottom of the shot glass into the center of each cookie–forming that adorable button look. Using a straw, poke two or 4 holes in each cookie before allowing them to cool completely. Finally, once cooled, thread twine, ribbon, or licorice string through the holes and tie a cute little bow.

Ingredients

  • Sugar Cookie Dough

  • Shot Glass

  • Baker’s Twine

  • Straw

Directions

  • Roll out sugar cookie dough on wax paper.
  • Cut perfectly round shapes using the wider opening of a shot glass as a cookie cutter.
  • Bake at 350°F for 6 minutes or JUST until the edges turn golden. Sugar cookie dough burns easily and will continue to cook as it cools on the baking sheet, so keep a close eye on them!
  • Once finished baking, press the bottom of the glass into the center of each warm cookie for that button look.
  • Poke two or four holes in the center using a straw before they cool completely.
  • Once cooled, thread twine, ribbon, or licorice string through the holes and tie a bow!
